A hotel with infinitely many rooms is fully booked — and yet the night porter keeps finding space for new guests. “The Infinite Hotel” is a 50-minute one-woman show that weaves Hilbert’s famous paradox, Zeno’s races and Cantor’s diagonal into a fast, funny and surprisingly rigorous piece of theatre.
The show is aimed at everyone from age 12; no formulas appear on stage, only stories, props and one increasingly desperate porter. Each performance is followed by a 20-minute discussion with the performer, a trained mathematician, who answers the questions the show leaves deliberately open.
Public performances take place at the Théâtre de l’Exemple in Lausanne; the show also tours schools and cultural venues in French-speaking Switzerland on request.
